UNCG’s Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program invites applications for the Dylan Rose Kadis and Eloise Hall Kadis Excellence Professorship in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. The professorship will be awarded for a period of four academic years beginning in August 2026. Candidates must be associate professors or full professors at UNCG when they take up the appointment. Candidates whose promotion to associate professor is pending must supply their letter from the UNCG Board of Trustees confirming their promotion. Final appointment to the professorship for candidates undergoing promotion review is contingent upon promotion approval at all levels.
The successful candidate will typically be selected from faculty members who have contributed to the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program. Candidates in all disciplines and departments are invited to apply.
Criteria to be used in recommending and appointing the candidate to the professorship include:
- the applicant’s scholarly or creative achievement related to women’s, gender, and sexuality
- potential to enhance the interdisciplinary field of women’s, gender, and sexuality studies, specifically the WGSS program at UNCG and its place in the community
- the applicant’s contributions to UNCG’s WGSS Program
At least once during their four-year tenure, the professor will invite to campus a nationally recognized speaker whose work relates to the professor’s scholarly or creative activity. As part of their application, applicants should identify potential speakers and describe what will be gained as a result of their presentations.
The professor will receive either: a) a salary supplement of $5,000 annually and research support of $10,000 per year or b) a salary supplement of $10,000 annually and research support of $5,000 per year. The professor will have the opportunity to choose option a or option b, in consultation with their Department Head and the WGSS Director. Additional funds for public events and activities related to the professorship’s proposed activities may be available; such funding requests must be approved by the WGSS Director.
APPLICATION INFORMATION
As part of the application process, candidates must submit a two-year budget approved by their Department Head. At the end of two years, a budget for the final two years will be required. The budget may include such items as teaching release time, research assistance, books, equipment and supplies, and travel. Applications available here.
